Volunteering

Volunteering is a rewarding way to meet people and to assist in growing our community.  You will make new friends, feel more a part of the church, and have fun!  Listed below are all the opportunities for the church.  Contact the church Vice President if you are interested in volunteering for one of these activities below.

Library - Assist with Library organization. 

Church Nursery - Provide or assist with childcare during church services and meetings (background check required)

Worship Associate Program/Religious Services - Work with the minister to support, plan, and carry out Sunday services and plan lay-led services and summer services.

Audio Technician - Operate the audio equipment during the service

Caring Community - Coordinate care for congregants who experience loss or medical problems, and acknowledge births and marriages with the help of congregants by providing meals, rids, visits or calls.

Property Committee:

Exterior/Grounds Sub-Committee - Organize property workdays each spring and fall, and care for the building's exterior, gardens and grounds

Design Sub-Committee - Concerned with the beautification of the church building

Sextons - Daily caretakes of the church building who ensure the security and readiness of the building for various activities

Adult Religious Learning and Growth - Plan and/or facilitate classes, workshops and groups.

Religious Education Council for Children and Youth - Plan and/or facilitate religious education programs for children and youth, and plan special events.

Religious Education for Children - Teach or assist religious education in the classroom

Religious Education for Youth - Teach or assist religious education in the classrooms, host/supervise youth nights; be an adult chaperone for field trips

Communication and Technology - Identify and plan ways technology can improve church administrative functions and communication, including the church website

Clara Barton Guild - Meet monthyly for fellowship, education, and fundraising that benefits church and community

Endowment Committee - Oversee and manage the investment and distribution of endowment funds

Finance Committee - Work with the Treasurer and the Recods Administrator monitoring the church's financial investments and expenses.

Stewardship Sub-Committee - Help congregants understand the importance of supporting the church through volunteering time and making a financial pledge.

Denominational Connections - Maintain and facilitate interactions with the Prairie Star District and the Unitarian Universalist Association

Memorial Garden - Provice routine maintenance and oversight of interments

Musical Opportunities

Walden Hill Vocal Ensemble church choir - Help provide music for a regular or summer service

Play an Instrument - Provide music for church services, accompianments or religious education classes

Hospitality and Growth Council

Membership Committee - Plan and present programs that introduce guests to the church and recognize new members; organize efforts to create a picture directory every few years.

Hospitality Committee - Provide a welcoming environment to guests, friends, and members by coordinating various activities on Sunday mornings.  If one of the following hospitality activities is of interest to you, please click and read the guidelines to determine what is involved.

Fellowship Committee - Coordinate and publicize fellowship activities including potlucks, special interest groups and a wide variety f other events such as plays, family nights out, concerts, dinners, parties, tours and workshops.

Social Justice Council - Coordinate social justice activities and task groups organized to address social justice issues.

Task Groups: Poverty, Racial Justice, Health Care, International Justice, People with Disabilities, Environment, Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Allies

Community Services

Interfaith Hospitality Network - Assist in providing food or socialize with homelss families (training required)

Community Food Response - Participate in city-wide Second Harvest program to rescue and distribute prepared food to those in need
