Church GovernanceOur church is organized and governed via congregational polity, which is a vital part of our Unitarian Universalist tradition. As a Unitarian Universalist congregation, we are a self governing entity. The congregation has the right to control its own finances and property, and to select its leadership and form of governance. Our minister is called to lead us by a vote of the congregation. Committees are the backbone of the organizational structure of the church. They constitute the primary way that our ministry is carried out. Committees provide a means for our congregants to use their individual talents and energy for the benefit of our church and of the community we serve. Congregational MeetingsAnnual meetings are held in June at which voting members of the congregation gather to elect Board members and members of the nominating committee, hear reports of the standing committees and the budget and act on any special issues. Additional Congregational meetings may be held to address concerns as they arise. Board of DirectorsThe governing board of the congregation is comprised of five members-at-large and four officers (President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer). The Minister attends Board meetings as an ex-officio, non-voting member. The Board sets policy, goals, and strategies at the direction of the Congregation. Program Council
