Job Opening: Child Care Coordinator

The First Unitarian Universalist Church, Rochester, Minnesota, a Welcoming Congregation, is actively seeking qualified candidates for the position of Child Care Coordinator.  The position is part-time, approximately 4-6 hours per week, beginning immediately.
 
The First Unitarian Universalist Church in Rochester, Minnesota has roots in the community going back to 1860 and has a congregation of 385 members, with an average Sunday morning Nursery attendance of about 5 children per service. The Child Care Coordinator oversees the operation of the Sunday morning Nursery Care at the Church and coordinates Child Care during other church activities as needed. Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide a welcoming, pleasant and safe Nursery environment for young children and their parents
  • Schedule Child Care Assistants for the Nursery on Sunday mornings
  • Coordinate Child Care for other Church activities by recruiting, training, and scheduling providers
  • Maintain records, including registration and attendance
  • Meet with Director of Religious Education and/or Chair of Religious Education Committee for Children and Youth

Requirements for the position include:

  • Experience providing childcare for children ages 6-36 months
  • Basic understanding of developmental needs of toddlers and young children
  • Ability to interact with parents and youth assistants
  • At least 18 years old
  • Coursework in child development or early learning preferred
  • Ability to work Sunday mornings from September to May from approximately 8:30 am to
  • 12:30 pm and June to August from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, plus miscellaneous evening and weekend hours as needed
